Overview

San Diego weaves together a series of interconnecting and diverging stories, merging threads that stretch around the globe into a single compelling narrative of tremendous scope; stories of illegal immigrants, of pilots, film stars and whores, of the making of Band on the Run and of the playwright himself.  Inspired by playwright David Greig's first visit to America, it is a surreal, comic and strangely resonant play. With a cast of eleven and a multitude of characters, it offers a weird, wonderful and occasionally nightmarish journey into the heart of the American dream and our universal longing for a sense of home and community.  First presented by the Tron Theatre Company at Edinburgh International Festival in August 2003, and thereafter at the Tron Theatre, Glasgow.
